About Ellie
I began designing my first websites when I was just 12 years old, back before I knew it could become a career. I've been in love ever since - flexibility and creativity, always something new to learn, and being able to work for a variety of clients around the world from anywhere with my laptop. For the past 20 years, I have freelanced for a wide range of clients from local small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. I work by designing exceptional websites that capture your customers' attention and convert more leads to sales, freeing up your time to focus on other aspects of successfully running your business.
My extensive background in branding, marketing, copywriting, design, and site builds will give you get an entire team's worth of skills when you hire me. Clients often stay with me for the life of their businesses because they appreciate that I take the time to get to know them and their goals, and I quickly respond to any problems or concerns with ideas and solutions instead of silence or roadblocks. You're not just a number in a long list of clients, you are my priority when we work together to build your business up online.
I have lived across the US and worked abroad in Australia, Singapore, and Belize, and worked remotely as I traveled in Africa, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Asia. Through working abroad, I've been very fortunate to learn first hand how best to communicate effectively across various cultures, both internally on the client side and externally with end users. These experiences have given me the opportunity to see through a wider lens and think outside the box when it comes to helping businesses succeed in new and growing markets. Understanding different cultures and their unique values and perspectives has enriched and influenced my ability to support my clients as they expand from a local or national level to having a more relatable and relevant international and global reach.
I truly love what I do, even if it's just kicking around ideas, taking them for a test drive, and seeing what works. Being a web developer and designer is about loving the constant discovery and finding that there are often many ways to solve a single problem. I love the process of helping to make my clients' dreams come true through a virtual identity that represents you and your business to the world; your own cohesive brand that exceeds your expectations and helps you continue to grow and thrive for many years to come.

Case Studies
NuView Treatment Center
I was hired for a full design and build of an addiction treatment center’s website based out of Los Angeles, CA. They have a lot of competition so I kept user experience (UX/UI), SEO best practices, and ADA compliance in mind.
In addition to web design and development, I also created social media management (on-brand post creation, post scheduling, responding to comments, etc), print and web advertisements, pamphlets, fliers, and other collateral as needed, custom video creation (including scripts, voiceovers, licensed video sourcing), managed content strategy, calls to action, blog posts, imagery, graphic design, complex forms, conditional logic, custom post types, landing/lead/sales pages, etc. I helped to hire and work with outside consultants as needed and met with them to oversee and edit their work as needed.
This was a large project that spanned nearly 2 years until they were ready to take it on themselves.
Testimonial from the Client
I couldn’t have had a more positive experience working with Ellie. When we started working with her, it was because we knew we needed to completely revamp our website. Ultimately, her role ended up becoming so much bigger. Ellie was not only able to identify the weak points and brainstorm a wide variety of solutions, she was specifically thinking of the company’s mission and long-term goals from the first moment working together. At no point did it ever feel like she was doing just a job. She was committed, passionate, thorough, and by the end of a week had a forward-thinking strategy for our web presence that went well beyond our original ambitions.
Not only is Ellie meticulous, skilled, and up-to-date with the latest in web design principles, but she is also a pleasure to work with. She communicated well and brought out the best in the team I had working with her. Today, our website, marketing approach, and brand strategy is based on a foundation that Ellie Hays of Rove Consulting set up. Even now, as we continue to reap the benefits of an outstanding website, she is available for any questions or issues my company has.
I highly recommend her to any business, even if you’re not even sure what you need specifically yet. She’ll help you see your situation more clearly and pave a path forward. Thank you for your incredible work!
ConstructReach
ConstructReach is an initiative sponsored by Target to encourage more women and minorities to seek careers in the field of construction. I came on at the beginning of the startup to help coordinate the launch of their website and their own social media network.
I helped to design, build, and manage ConstructReach’s website, email list and newsletters, landing pages, various information portals, educational tools, and coordinated with outside contractors to design and oversee their own proprietary social media network and phone app. I also created printable materials, t-shirt designs, event photography, shot and edited video, facilitated online webinars and other interactive online experiences.
I worked directly with owners at construction companies, Target executives, and contracted third party providers both remotely and in-person at the Target Headquarters in Minneapolis, MN and the ConstructReach home office in St Louis, MO, as well as supporting “I Built This” community-based events for students that took place at Target stores across the country.

Honey Made
Honey Made is an Austin-based band that contacted me with a rush request for a landing page to launch ASAP for an upcoming release party a few days away. I created a unique, animated landing page to allow them to collect newsletter signups during the event to help continue the momentum for interest in their music. with their fans.
Afterward the initial landing page, I built a fully custom, mobile responsive website based off the original concept that includes visual storytelling on their about page, photo galleries, videos, shows, merch, contact, etc. Their website now promotes their band to a growing fan base worldwide.

She also took the time to come to our show and get to know the band. Coming to the show certainly informed her website design. She came up with a very creative and standout design that people are raving about. She also made it very easy with her technical knowledge and getting things done without me having to get to deep into the technology.
As I look back on the project, I could have used one of the DIY templates but now realize the website would look like all the other websites designed with that template. We now have a website that stands out and is uniquely designed for Honey Made. A big thank you Ellie Hays and Rove Consulting!
DivaDance
The client came to me needing to find someone who was responsive to messages and calls and would communicate effectively to get the work done with a quick turn around time. Their existing website was performing poorly and difficult to manage. I rebuilt the site structure using Custom Post Types to make managing the content easier and redesigned using Elementor and WordPress.
I improved mobile responsiveness, SEO, site speed, and designed and built custom templates for their blog and location pages. The client said it was well worth the investment and they were happy to work with a web developer who was willing to communicate consistently via email, Slack, jump on a call, or meet in person to get the work done.
Their website is now much easier for them to maintain, brings them in more leads for their dance classes, and more inquiries for their franchise opportunities.
Testimonial from the Client
She took the time to walk us through the changes and even created Loom videos for future reference. With our previous site, I couldn’t make changes without breaking it. Now, it’s so much easier to make updates and build new pages due to the way she set it up. She even created templates that make it easier for us to build out new pages which has been a huge time-saver as we continue to add more franchise units. Ellie is attentive, empathetic, resourceful, thorough and responsive. I can shoot her a question and get an answer almost instantly, which is huge for a small company like us. I couldn’t recommend her more.
Westchester Publishing Services (B2B)
This client needed a new website built with a very short deadline and I completed the work needed ahead of schedule leaving ample room for final revisions, testing, etc. I created complex custom post types that fed into templates to keep similar content pages consistent and on-brand. This allows for their team to make changes very easily since they never have to write or change any code or edit the template. I also created a custom explainer video, graphic design, SEO page structure setup, etc.
This site used Beaver Builder, Themer, PODS, etc. to achieve the complex build results. The client is very happy with the results, including their board members and the top decision-makers in the company.
Leah's Pantry
Leah’s Pantry needed a modern, easy to update website to offer nutrition courses and services to their community with the option to purchase online through WooCommerce.
This build included extensive Custom Post Types using Crocoblock plugins, JetEngine, and Advanced Custom Fields paired with highly customized, advanced strategy templates to fit each CPT. This was complex to build, but the results allowed their team to easily and efficiently update product and course listings without needing to be tech-savvy.
I supplied training on use of the backend, as well as best practices for UX, SEO, and product listing strategy, and continue to provide ongoing support as needed. Note: The client has taken over changes since the build so it may look different on the live site.
